Feeding Firsts was created with the thought, and later discussion on giving back to our first responders and military families. The idea is simple, give them a free meal, as a thank you. Being a first responder is a thankless job, these heroes go about their business, doing their job everyday, without asking for anything in return. We felt they deserved to know, people care.
With the current Coronavirus, we’ve also felt that those on the front lines should be included!
Feeding Firsts is very new, and started on NO budget. We currently are picking a location, buying food out of our pockets, delivering it ourselves (or possibly having it delivered in some cases). The food purchased will be from different restaurants around the area near the location chosen. We hope that in time, local restaurants will work with us on discounts.
Currently we’re in SE Michigan, in Monroe County. We will be serving locations in SE Michigan and NW Ohio. Over time we’d love to have people from other areas join us and serve their local first responders too! We’d also like to in time, possibly have a location, they could come and get a home cooked meal. These could be ordered online, then could eat there, or take it to go. The online ordering would make it quick saving them time! In addition to those first responders working at the time, we’d like to extend it to the families as well. First responders aren’t the only ones who serve, the families do too! In time we hope to make this a reality.
We are not currently a 501 (c)(3) however we are working on becoming one.
